The Matthews Farm Share

A weekly box of food + wine from our farm in Woodinville, WA.

Situated on our 8 acre estate property, our farm has created a new experience for those who choose to visit us at our Woodinville tasting room. Each year, we grow and supply organic produce to local residents and restaurants. Our farm extends our belief that wine is more than just a drink, but an experience—one that is best when paired with good food and great people.

Matthews offers a unique farm share program. The farm share is offered to approximately 30 members during the growing season, running mid-June through early November (20 weeks). Read below for what is included in our weekly farm share.

FARM WORK DAY

There will be one work day and party at Matthews where you’ll have a chance to see and experience how the farm operates, as well as meet your fellow shareholders. Your workday will end with a family-friendly feast prepared by a selected chef and team, where we all sit down together and enjoy a late summer evening communal meal. Date TBD.

In addition to the farm work day, there will be six evenings during the season where a farm-to-table family-style meal will be prepared by an award winning chef. Each meal will include produce from our farm, wines from Matthews, and other local delicacies. Members will have the first opportunity to make a reservation; ticket price is $125 per person.

PICKING UP YOUR WEEKLY BOX

Starting in late-June, you can pick up your weekly farm box on Wednesdays, between 1pm - 7pm, in our tasting room, located at 16116 140th Pl NE Woodinville, WA 98072.

Questions? Check our FAQ below:

  • What things would an average farm box include:

As long as they are in season, any combination of fresh kale, chard, beets, carrots, peas, beans, potatoes, tomatoes, lettuce, braising greens (bok choy), radishes, cucumbers, summer and winter squash, cilantro, thyme, chives, basil, dill, fennel.

Additionally, there will be fresh flowers, 8oz of butter or cheese, a loaf of local bread, 6 local eggs, honey (twice a year) and one bottle of wine.

  • When will the produce be harvested?

Most will be harvested within 24-48hrs of pickup to maintain optimal flavor and freshness. There were many times last year when we harvested the morning of the pickup day, to deliver as farm fresh as we could. At home, your food can be stored just like anything else you would purchase at the market.

  • Is the farm organic?

Yes and no. We've used organic methods to farm the entire growing area. But, we haven't been certified organic by the USDA, which is a 3 yr process.

  • What if I can't pick up my box on Wednesday?

We can only guarantee the freshness of your farm box on Wednesday. If you aren't able to pick up on Wednesday, email hello@matthewswinery.com to make arrangements to pick up your wine, and whatever can be kept fresh at a later date.

  • What if I'm out of town?

If you happen to be out of town, you can designate another person to pick up your box, or we can hold your wine here until you get back.

  • Can I split my farm box with another person?

Yes! We have had several members do this each year. Simply let us know each of the names, and we will make sure it's ready for you when you arrive.

  • How will I know which box is mine?

Your name will be on your box each week.

  • Do I keep my spot as a member next year?

Yes, all Farm Box members keep their place on our list.

  • What library wines will be offered?

We are combing through our library to find several Matthews wines that we know are drinking well. We already have a few vintages in mind, and will be offering them, alongside some serving or food pairing ideas in your weekly box. Roughly 75% of the wines you will receive will be from our past few vintages, and 25% will be older library wines.
