Vibrant, yet structured, with a very food friendly profile, this wine follows Matthews’ style with classic restraint, good freshness and a pleasant structure. This wine has tremendous drinkability.

Tasting Notes

Red and black currants, smoke, spiced plum and black cherry. Swirling brings up red fruits and sandalwood. Fresh, but ripe, with bright fruit and good tension. Long and smooth tannins with a finish of plum, blackberry and vanilla bean spice.

The Vintage: A long growing season with favorable weather provided excellent fruit in 2016.The extended season allowed the grapes in Washington State to ripen slowly, producing a great vintage.

Food Pairing: Matthews Cuvée is purposefully food friendly, so it lends itself to all sorts of food pairings, from BBQ and Pizza to an elegant multicourse dinner. We also love to pair the Cuvée with a simple cheese and charcuterie board for afternoon and early evening sipping.
